Wonderful

You gave me
sand
and shells,
shared brush
and ink
and color...
a bouquet of Autumn leaves
and poems,
sunrise,
sunset,
peaceful moments beneath the moon...

You asked me
‘If you had five years left to share,
how would you live?’
and quietly
I listened for the answer...

then fell the winter
the unrelenting silent time
before the Spring
before the seemingly forced acceptance
before the fleeting moments of understanding
and letting go...

yet, like an unnameable star,
your light shines each day
perhaps upon the wisdom tree
you have become
perhaps now, I am jellyfish
branches and tentacles
separated only by the veil
we pass through once,
like a glimmer of starlight
upon the surface by which we see...

here, now
your presence still flows in me
in hummingbirds by the shore
the edge flowers blooming by the stream
the whisper of poetry in the mist
rising on the ridge lines above the sea...
in the rainbows dancing there...
in Autumn leaves
once again turning bright
teaching us as they fly
‘In release... we begin’
then,
falling through uncertainty
into
